| The Constitution of the Drexel University Aikido Club | |
Article I. Recognition
The official recognized name of this organization will be known as the Drexel Aikido Club hereafter.
The Drexel Aikido Club conducts its activitites on the properties of Drexel University however not exclusive to these facilities.
Article II. Objects and Purpose
The objects and purpose of Drexel University Aikido Club are:
- The introduction, teaching, promotion, encouragement, understanding and extension of Aikido in all its aspects, within the Drexel University community however hot exclusive to.
- Help students reach their personal goals relating to Aikido.
- To instill self-discipline, self-motivation and respect to the surronding environment.
The Drexel University Aikido Club will be open to all Drexel Students regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or ability and are willing and able to contribute to the objectives of the club.
In addition, official members need to comply with the following criteria:
- Must be a Drexel University Undergraduate in good standing with the University, applicable to all the rules and regulations set by the University
- Must have completed all new member registeration forms provided by the club officers.
- Drexel University Insurance
- Waiver Drexel Aikido Club Registeration Form
- Paid all dues set by the Aikido Club Executive Committee.
- All Aikido practices, events and competitions.
- Undergraduate members in good standing have the right to vote on all issues.
- If the member is not in good standing with Drexel University or The Drexel Aikido Club.
- If the actions of the member are deemed dangerous to the Club. The Executive Committee and the Instructor will vote on the removal of this member.
The Drexel Aikido Club and its members will be governed through its affiliation with Drexel University. The Drexel Aikido Club and its members will be governed with its affiliation with Allentown dojo. The Drexel Aikido Club will remain affiliated with the Allentown dojo as long as that body remains affiliated to, and in good standing with, the Ki No Kawa Aikido organization.
Article V. Officers
The President: The president of the Drexel Aikido Club shall be the chief officer and shall have general and active supervision over the business of the club and oversee its several other officers, subject to the control of the voting members of the club. The president of the club shall also be the chief representative of the club in all outside meetings, activities, and fucntions. The president must be a full undergraduate student.
The Vice President: The vice president of the club shall be responsible for the daily function of the club. Including the implementations of marketing efforts, administer, collect and file new member paper work. The president of the club, members of the club, executive committee of the club, and/ or the by-laws of the club may assign other duties to him or her.
The Treasurer: The treasurer of the club shall have charge of custody of, and responsibility for all funds of the club. The collection of dues, deposit and disbursement of funds, and exhibition and auditing of accounts shall be directed by the members of the club. The president of the club, members of the club, executive committee of the club, and/ or the by-laws of the club may assign other duties to him or her. The treasurer must be a full time undergraduate student.
Election of Officers:
- Only Drexel University Undergraduates may hold office.
- The Officers will hold their position for two terms.
- Officers may not hold their position for more than four consecutive terms.
Other positions of responsibility shall be assigned by the executive committee and subject to the provisions set forth in the by-laws.
Article VI. Finances
The income for the club shall result from the following:
- The following members will be responsible for dues set by the executive committee
- Official Undergraduate Members
- Graduate Members
- Staff and Faculty Members
- Guest Members
In the event that it becomes necessary and or desirable to discontinue the activities of the club, as it is presently constituted, this can be done by two-third majority vote of the undergraduate members. Under such circumstances, the net assets of the club shall be frozen iin the Drexel Aikido Club account for the future use of a new or reinstated Drexel Aikido Club.
Article VII. Amendments
- All undergraduate members may submit suggestions to the executive committee and shall place them to vote.
- The executive committee shall notify all voting members of a proposed amendment and direct them to vote within specified amount of time.
- A two-thirds majority is necessary to create a new amendment.
- The executive committee retains the right to veto an amendment however if this issue is resubmitted and two-thirds majority is reached it shall pass regardless of the executive committee's decision.
